Tokyo Station, Tokyo Grandsta "Burdigala Express

Tokyo Gransta is a large commercial facility located inside the ticket gates of JR Tokyo Station. The bakery-cafe "Bourdigala Express" here offers a slightly different kind of limited edition bread.

Tokyo Grandsta's limited edition "Tokyo Pavé".

That is the "Tokyo Pavé " series. It is a companion to melon bread, baked in a square Danish bread covered with various flavors of cookie dough.


The variety of flavors is astonishing. Starting with "plain," there are as many as 10 varieties, including "cacao," "green tea," and "rum raisin. The most popular, "Choco Mint," is often sold out. Each is priced at 220 yen (tax included).

This time, we purchased five kinds: plain, chocolate mint, cacao, apple cinnamon, and berry. Let us introduce each one!

Plain

The cookie dough is crunchy, the surface of the bread is crispy, and the inside is fluffy. The best thing about Tokyo Pavé is that you can taste these three textures at once. The square shape of the bread makes the cookie dough more crispy and crunchy than regular melon bread.


The plain version allows you to simply enjoy the deliciousness of the Danish and the sweetness of the cookie dough. Because the flavor is so pronounced, it is best served lightly toasted, if possible.

Choco Mint

The freshness of the slightly minty flavor is the perfect match for the sweetness of the chocolate. The natural yet refreshing minty aftertaste will satisfy even the most discerning chocolate mint lover. We recommend eating it at room temperature or chilled, not warmed.

Apple Cinnamon

This is another popular item. The spicy and sweet aroma of cinnamon combined with the subtle sweet and sour taste of apples is comforting. Goes well with coffee!

Cacao

The bittersweet and rich cacao cookie dough is a perfect match with the crunchy texture. It has a slightly mature taste. Chocolate lovers should not hesitate to try these!

Berry

Cute pink berries. From the moment you taste it, you can smell the sweet and sour aroma and taste the flavor. It tastes more like raspberries than strawberries, and it's fresh!
