Fukusaya is a long-established castella restaurant founded in Nagasaki in 1624 during the Edo period. Currently, it has stores in department stores nationwide. Even those who didn't come up with the name of the store might think of "castella in a yellow paper bag".


The Dutch cake introduced this time is a cocoa flavored arrangement of traditional castella. Walnuts and raisins are topped on the top. The price is 1,188 yen for No. 0.6 and 1,890 yen for No. 1 (both including tax).

I bought the first size this time. It is housed in a calm red outer box that looks like a brick.


When you take out the Dutch cake inside, the scent of cocoa drifts around. No knife is required as it has already been cut into 10 pieces.


It has a moist and fluffy texture similar to castella, and has a fine and delicate mouthfeel. Rich yet elegant sweetness spreads.


The mellow scent of cocoa, a slight bitterness, crispy walnuts, and the sweet and sour taste of raisins are added to create a complex taste. The texture is also varied, and it tastes more like adults than castella. However, it doesn't have a strong habit or alcohol is used, so even children can eat it.


Fukusaya's castella is a staple of souvenirs that make people happy, but many people have eaten it. If you want to add a little surprise, choose a Dutch cake. The shelf life is unopened and is about one week.
