Collaboration between McDonald's and Pokemongo

A collaboration between the application game "Pokemon GO" started in Japan today (July 22nd) and McDonald's Japan. Domestic stores (excluding some) will appear as "gym" and "pokestop" in the game.

Pokemon Go is a mobile application game that uses location information. Set in the real world itself, players can actually catch and battle Pokemon.

A major feature is that the player's position information in the real world and the game are linked. When a player moves in the real world, it moves in the game as well. It is a game of the genre called "real world game" in which the game progresses by walking in the real world.

In this collaboration between McDonald's and Pokemongo, about 2,900 McDonald's stores in Japan will appear on the map on the game. Approximately 400 stores will be "Jim" where "battles" will be held between Pokemon, and the remaining 2,500 stores will be "Pokestop" where items such as monster balls can be obtained.
