During his visit to Asia, Muskar said he came up with the idea of topping chocolate with insects. He said on French television station France 3:

"In Asia, eating insects was commonplace and part of the culture. As a chocolatier, I wondered if I could mix chocolate with an insect diet."

Muskar decorates with gold powder to make it easier for buyers to eat insects. However, he says it's best not to stare at the insects, as staring at them can lead to loss of appetite.

Crickets and hornworms were provided by the Toulouse company MicroNutris, located in southwestern France. The company's founder said it has begun offering edible insects in response to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization's proposal that "we should eat more insects to overcome the food crisis." .. Crickets are said to have been bred in a safe environment for 8 weeks and hornworms for 12 weeks.

The price of chocolate made by Mr. Muskar using the insect is 22 euros in a box of 9 pieces. It is quite expensive at about 2,936 yen in Japanese yen. People who can buy more than 300 yen per grain of chocolate seem to be able to secure food even in the event of a food crisis. But you may be able to get used to the insect diet.
