I actually purchased and tried "Cricket Chocolate" sold by MUJI. The price is 220 yen per piece (tax included).

Chocolate Cricket foods have been the talk of the town lately. MUJI also sells products using crickets. Cricket Chocolate" is a chocolate bar containing cricket powder. It is said to be high in protein. Each bar has 184 kcal of calories and 15.9 g of protein.



After opening the package, I noticed by the aroma that it is not plain chocolate, but contains orange juice powder. The sweet citrus scent is faintly fragrant. I wish this was written on the package if possible. ...... I thought it was just plain chocolate.


It looks like a regular chocolate bar and you can't feel the presence of crickets. The taste is no different than a regular chocolate bar, and if you were served it without saying anything, you wouldn't even know it had crickets in it. The presence of orange is quite strong! It has a strong aroma that is different from that of orange peel, so this may be a point that divides people into two camps of likes and dislikes.
