The new product from 7-ELEVEN "Fried Saimin Hawaiian Style Yakisoba" is too good for Japanese tastes! The delicious luncheon meat junkiness is also great!

Tried 7-ELEVEN

's "Fried Saimin Hawaiian Style Yakisoba" I tried "Fried Saimin Hawaiian Style Yakisoba" released by 7-ELEVEN on July 3, 2012! This new product is a reproduction of "Fried Saimin", a local food in Hawaii. The price is 370 yen (399.60 yen including tax). 553 kcal per serving.

I am ashamed to admit that this is my first time to try fried saimin (don't you see it very often in Hawaiian restaurants in Japan?) ) I'm not sure if this is the first time for me to try fried saimin. What is it that the locals in Hawaii love so much?

The fried noodles are seasoned with bonito and served with four colorful ingredients (luncheon meat, stir-fried egg, stir-fried fish paste, and green onion). It also looks really good packed in a packet, a little like you bought it from a food stall there.

Fried Saimin Hawaiian-style Yakisoba Taste?

The noodles are medium thick and chewy! They are firm and chewy, and the more you chew, the more the richness of the oil and the flavor of the bonito seeps out. The plump fish paste and crunchy green onions add a delightful texture, and the fluffy fried egg is mellow and relaxing.

And above all, the luncheon meat! This makes me feel Hawaii, it's so salty, greasy, and a little bit junky. ...... I love it!

The fried saimin has a strong skipjack flavor, and even though it's a local food in Hawaii, it's very much suited to the Japanese palate. It tastes like a soupless mazesoba version of "Okinawa soba". It is a slightly junky, addictive and delicious yakisoba dish that one would like to eat in the summer. It is a very filling dish, and is also very cost-effective!

When I think of Hawaiian food, I have tended to gravitate toward loco moco and ahi poke, but from now on, when I see fried saimin, I will eat it more and more.
