Three cute manjuu! Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum "Dinosaur Boy", San-in famous confectionery "Dojo Sukui Manju", Tokyo famous confectionery "Pompoko Oyaji".


So cute that it's a shame to eat it! Here are three cute looking manjuu buns in one place. They include "Dinosaur Boy," a masterpiece confectionery born in Fukui, and "Tokyo Meika Pompoko Oyaji.

Tokyo Meika Pompoko Oyaji

Tokyo Meika Pompoko Oyaji" is sold by Tokyo Pompoko Honpo.


A manju shaped like a tanuki. The name "Ponpoko Oyaji" comes from the phrase "Hang in there, Dad!


Inside the sponge cake skin is yolk bean paste. Although it is tightly packed, it is soft and moist and loosely melts in the mouth. It is mild and rich, but not too sweet. It is a nostalgic taste that you will want to enjoy with a cup of warm Japanese tea.


Dinosaur child

Dinosaur-shaped snacks, " Dinosaur Dumplings," are sold at the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum.


This Japanese confectionery is baked in the shape of a three-dimensional dinosaur in reference to Fukui, the dinosaur kingdom. It is sold by Owada, a Japanese confectionery store in Katsuyama City, Fukui Prefecture. They are handmade one by one with homemade bean paste using otebomame (a kind of string bean) from Hokkaido.


Not only is it pretty, but it also tastes superb. The moist, melt-in-your-mouth thin crust is filled with dusty white bean paste. When you bite into it, the sweet bean paste melts smoothly, and its elegant sweetness envelops your tongue. It is so delicious that you will want to keep eating more and more!


Dojosukui Manjuu

San'in famous confectionery " Dojosukui Manju " is made in the image of a "Hyottoko mask".


The manju (Japanese sweet bun) with a face of a "hottokko" is covered with a polka-dot tenugui style wrapping paper. When the wrapping paper is removed, a bald head appears. It is adorable.


The soft dough is filled with a soft and fluffy white bean paste. It is a moist, mouth-watering, elegant and sweet old-fashioned manjuu.
