Sazae-san-yaki is a large oval pancake shaped like the face of a character from the nationally popular anime "Sazae-san. When the author visited, in addition to "Sazae-san-yaki (Tsukishima Monja flavor with cheese)," "Sazae-san-yaki (Custard flavor with apple cinnamon)," and "Nampei-san-yaki (Tsukishima Monja flavor with rice cake and mayonnaise)," the limited time offer "Nampei-san-yaki (Ogura Anko flavor with white beans)" and "Tama-yaki Choco Cream flavor (with almonds) were on sale.

I purchased the Tsukishima Monja-flavored Sazae-san yaki and the Choco Cream-flavored Tama-yaki. Both have a soft, glutinous dough and are filled with a variety of ingredients. The Tsukishima Monja flavor, in particular, offers the crunchiness of cabbage and the smoothness of cheeses that stretch to a chewy consistency.
