Aomori souvenir "curious apple" - a pie baked with whole Fuji apples in syrup!

Aomori Souvenir "Anxious Apple

A whole apple in a pie! Introducing the Aomori souvenir "Kikinaru Ringo".

The "curious apple" is a pie made by wrapping a whole Aomori Fuji apple in syrup and baking it. It is available at souvenir stores and airports in the prefecture, as well as at Aomori antenna stores in other regions and some department stores. This time, I got it at Shinjuku Takashimaya's famous sweets corner. The price was 699 yen (tax included).

When you open the red box with a design of famous places in Aomori Prefecture, you will find a spherical pie. The size and silhouette are just like a whole apple.

When cut, the lush cross-section of the apple is revealed. The apples are not overcooked, but soaked in syrup to bring out their original sweet and sour taste and crispy flesh. The skin is wild.

The pie crust is not crispy, but rather moist and filling. The savory, buttery flavor that seeps out of the crust goes well with the juicy apples.

The core of the pie is filled with sponge, which adds to the sweetness and softness. This adds a "sweetness" that is not too simple.

The apple is the star of the show in terms of volume, making this an apple pie for apple lovers. In the current season, it would be delicious warmed up and served with ice cream or whipped cream! If you see it, please give it a try!
