MUJI "Unmatched Apples (San Fuji)"

"Unmatched apples (San Fuji)", which is a MUJI product with a revised production process, is on sale from December 18th at 80 stores nationwide. The price including tax is 100 to 150 yen per piece (the price varies depending on the size). Sales will end as soon as they are sold out.

"Food" is the most basic activity in the basics of life such as clothing, food, and housing. MUJI has always conveyed the thoughts and ingenuity of producers through the handling of fruits and vegetables that are indispensable for daily dining.

Last season, in collaboration with Narita Farm in Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture, we sold apples that deviated from general standards due to misalignment, color unevenness, scratches, and stains at 30 stores nationwide, which was well received. Got This year as well, we will continue to cooperate with the farm to sell "uneven apples" with a revised production process.

In Japan, where the agricultural population is declining and the population is aging, we want to continue producing delicious agricultural products, so we share ideas with each other and reduce the work that has been taken for granted. All apples harvested in the contracted fields will be sold regardless of whether they are genuine or non-standard, and the total amount will be tripled from last year, and the number of stores will increase from 30 last year to 80.

Three revised production processes

1. Work to add red color・ Use of reflective sheet ・ “Vine” that rotates the fruit so that it is exposed to sunlight
・ "Leaf picking" to expose the fruits to sunlight

2. Work to sort by appearance・ Work to sort the presence of scratches ・ Work to sort the presence of color unevenness

3. Work to divide the size into small pieces・ Reduced the size selection from the usual 7 stages to 3 stages of large, medium and small
