Nishi-Azabu Inariya Yoboku Kitsune
Nishiazabu Inariya Yobokitsune is located in Roppongi, Tokyo. It is an inari sushi specialty restaurant quietly located in a residential area off a main street. In addition to the standard sesame and walnut varieties, the restaurant also offers a lineup of seasonal inari. This time, I purchased an 8-piece package containing four types: golden sesame, walnut, grilled seaweed, and mentaiko (cod roe). The price is 1,100 yen (tax included).
The inari beautifully lined up in the box are all smaller than most. You can eat them with a crunch without opening your big mouth.
Along with the cute size, the unique feature is the "rolled" style of fried bean curd. Kumamoto's "Nankai-age" is cooked without oil, and then rolled with a blend of several kinds of rice to match the fried bean curd.
Kin-Goma
The rice loosens in your mouth and the fluffy, sweet and spicy fried bean curd gently catches it. The more you chew, the more the flavors of each become one, with the sesame seeds adding a savory accent at the end. While retaining a hint of sourness, the overall taste is elegant and not overpowering.
Walnut
Nori (seaweed) is also wrapped with fried bean curd is "Yaki Nori". The compatibility of the two goes without saying. The juicy fried bean curd is wrapped with the refreshing aroma of the sea.
Yaki Nori
Mentaiko" has a gorgeous pink color and a spicy aftertaste. The pleasant texture and small size make you want to eat one after the other.
Mentaiko
The packaging, appearance, size, and taste are all sophisticated, making it the perfect souvenir for your loved ones. It is recommended to call ahead and make a reservation, as they are sometimes sold out.
