"Kyoto Arashiyama Bean Toro Shinjuku" is a sweet shop on the B1F of Shinjuku Metro Shokudo-gai with the theme of traditional Japanese ingredients "beans". This shop sells "tofu soft" made from soy milk, "tofu soft" topped with red bean paste, and Kyoto sweets that are perfect as souvenirs.


The standard popularity is "special soft serve". This is a soft serve ice cream made from Kyoto Sagano's specialty "tofu". There are three flavors that were sold when I visited: "Tofu", "Tofu Kyoho", and "Tofu Kyoto Matcha". Prices start from 330 yen (tax included) for singles (regular cones / cups).

■ Lightness like sorbet

I ordered the soft serve ice cream of "Tofu Kyoto Matcha" which has a slightly pale green color. It has a very light mouthfeel, and you can feel the sorbet-like crisp texture in the smoothness.


The matcha flavor is slightly weaker and the overall sweetness is modest. The aftertaste is refreshing and does not leave a lump, so you can finish your meal without getting tired until the end. It may be a little unsatisfactory for those who want to eat super-rich matcha soft, but it is a perfect dish when you want a refreshing matcha sweet.
