Comparing Lady Boden and Haagen-Dazs Ice Creams

When it comes to "good ice cream" that can be purchased at supermarkets, many people think of "Lady Boden," which is loved by people of all ages, and the well-known luxury line "Haagen-Dazs. I wondered how different the two companies' ice cream tastes when compared... I was curious, so I bought some!


I was curious, so I bought some! This time we will compare three standard flavors: "Vanilla," "Strawberry," and "Matcha (Green Tea). All the flavors are ice cream, which contains the highest amount of milk solids and milk fat.

Note that the supermarket I visited this time only had Lady Boden mini cups in assortment packs, so I purchased vanilla and strawberry in assortment packs and matcha in pints (large volume). Both Haagen-Dazs offer mini cups.

Which tasted better, Lady Borden or Haagen-Dazs?

After comparing the two, the main difference was that the Lady Boden felt "ho-hum" in the mouth, while the Häagen-Dazs was smoother (both are good). And as for the taste... while it is a prerequisite that each is delicious, I personally would give the " Matcha" to Draw, and the "Vanilla" and "Strawberry" to Haagen-Dazs...!

Vanilla Ice Cream Comparison

The approximate calories per 100 ml are 152 kcal for Lady Boden and 221 kcal for Haagen-Dazs.

When you open the lid, Lady Boden has a more yellowish color than Haagen-Dazs. In terms of ingredients, Haagen-Dazs contains eggs (egg yolks), while Lady Boden does not.


When tasted, Lady Boden has a rich, creamy vanilla flavor. On the other hand, Haagen-Dazs has a milky, refreshing sweetness that tastes like the soft-serve ice cream you would get at a dairy farm. Both are delicious, but I think Haagen-Dazs wins, including the gorgeous vanilla flavor!

Matcha (green tea) ice cream comparison

The approximate calories per 100 ml are 137 kcal for Lady Boden and 217 kcal for Häagen-Dazs.

Häagen-Dazs has a darker green color than Lady Boden.


The aroma of matcha through the nose is about the same intensity in both. In taste, Häagen-Dazs has a more intense bitter and astringent taste of matcha. On the other hand, Lady Borden's has a taste of matcha, but it is milky and mellow. I have the impression that Lady Boden is a matcha ice cream that is easy to eat for everyone, from children to adults.



I like the sharp matcha flavor of Haagen-Dazs, but my family liked Lady Boden's matcha. It seems that people have different tastes.

Strawberry Ice Cream Eating Comparison

Approximate calories per 100 ml: 130 kcal for Lady Boden and 214 kcal for Häagen-Dazs.

Lady Boden is darker pink than Häagen-Dazs. Both have strawberry pulp mixed into the ice cream.


When you try it, you will be overwhelmed by the strawberry flavor of Häagen-Dazs...! While Lady Boden has 14% fruit juice and pulp, Haagen-Dazs has 23%. The tartness and bursting sweetness of fresh strawberries, as if strawberry jam had been mixed in, is suddenly much stronger in the Häagen-Dazs flavor.


In addition, while Lady Boden's strawberry pulp was fine and grainy, Häagen-Dazs' pulp was larger and had a "crunchy" texture in addition to the "crunchy" feeling. I think the Häagen-Dazs is more satisfying to eat.
