Starbucks Ginza Matsuya-dori store
The first Starbucks Japan store opened on a hot summer day

The first Starbucks store in Japan opened on Matsuya-dori in Ginza, Tokyo on August 2, 1996. The first customer's order was a "double tall latte", a large cup of hot latte. On that day, the highest temperature in Tokyo was 32.4 degrees Celsius.

22 years later, August 2, 2018. Starbucks Ginza Matsuya-dori store held a small event to celebrate its 22nd anniversary. "22nd Anniversary" is also on the blackboard inside the store.

From the menu to the receipt, the notation is old-fashioned, and you will miss the time. I was also invited to a quiz where some customizations would be free when I lined up.

There was also a quiz

At the counter, I ordered a double tall latte just like the customer 22 years ago. It's simple, but the milk and coffee are strong and chewy.

Foam foam

The foam is soft on the tongue and has a relaxing taste. It's a lot, but it was nice to drink in a cool store over time.
