◆ A box of 8,500 yen "luxury konpeito" is also available
Konpeito is a "foreign" sweet that came from Portugal in 1546. It was said that it was also given to Nobunaga Oda, but at that time it was very rare and it was a valuable item that only public houses and high-class samurai could eat.
At Ryokujuan Shimizu, we start with "Ultimate Konpeito," which can only be made once a year, "Seasonal products," where you can enjoy the taste of seasonal vegetables and fruits, and "Estrella," which is flavored with tea and coffee. There are about 50 types of konpeito in the lineup.
Among them, "Ultimate Konpeito" is so popular that it has to wait for cancellation every year. "High-class konpeito" such as "Ultimate Vosne-Romane red wine konpeito" (8,500 yen), which uses red wine from the Burgundy region of France and condenses a mellow flavor, is also available.
◆ I tried konpeito for the first time in a long time
I hadn't heard about konpeito so much that I couldn't remember when I last ate it, but my colleague gave me a konpeito (small bag) from Ryokujuan Shimizu, so I tried it. The flavors are "natural water cider konpeito" and "lemon konpeito", and the price is 555 yen.
Both wear beautiful and uniform "Iga" and look like stars. Just looking at it makes me excited.
I grabbed a grain. The konpeito I ate a long time ago was quite hard and I had the impression that it would hit my teeth, but this is not too hard and can be chewed crisply. Is it possible to convey the hardness between candy ramune and candy?
The sweetness is very elegant! I get the impression that the taste of the ingredients is alive , not the taste that was forced.
"Natural water cider konpeito" has a "clear" refreshing soda taste, and "Lemon konpeito" has a sweet and sour lemon flavor that spreads in your mouth the moment you bite it. Something is different from the konpeito I have eaten before ...! (I don't know what it is!)
It may be a good idea to roll the konpeito on your tongue and taste it, then chew it crispy and enjoy the crispy texture and spreading flavor. It seems to go well with coffee as well as tea making. By the way, according to the store, it is a bad idea to taste different flavors of konpeito at the same time! What is it? Let's taste each separately.
All of the konpeito at the store are handmade and cannot be mass-produced, so they are not sold online. It will be sold over the counter, or orders will be accepted by phone or fax.
