Jetstar Japan (Jetstar) will start offering four types of reservation-based in-flight meals, "Pre-order Meals," for the first time on its domestic flights from July 30th. Reservations will be accepted from July 16th. The target is 9 domestic routes with a flight time of 70 minutes or more, and the price is 1,000 yen each (with mineral water / tax included).


This is the first attempt to pre-book a "real" meal on Jetstar's domestic flights, where only "light meals" have been offered so far. The menu is divided into two periods, from July to October and from November to February 2015, and four types are prepared for each.

Of particular note are the menus "Fluffy Pancakes with Apple Sausage" (July-October) and "Jet Star Colorful Risotto with Sausage" (November-2015), which were jointly devised with Showa Women's University. It was developed with students from the Department of Health Design and Department of Nutrition and Dietetic Science, Faculty of Life Sciences, which studies "food and health" at the university, with the desire of passengers to " enjoy healthy and tastier in-flight meals." so.


In developing the menu, the students themselves interviewed Jetstar's CA and passengers, and compiled the survey results such as "What are the popular in-flight meals?" And "What kind of customers are in high demand?" By repeating trial and error while exchanging opinions with Jetstar's cooking and manufacturing department, a menu that tastes and looks good and can withstand a wide range of temperatures such as frozen, chilled, and hot was born.


Prior to the launch of the service on the flight, the author also tasted it as soon as possible! Below, we will introduce the details of two types of "serious menus" jointly developed by Jetstar and students.

◆ July-October menu "Fluffy pancakes with apple sauce and sausages"

A menu that combines 3 pancakes with "diced apple sauce" with apricot added as a secret ingredient. It comes with wieners and broccoli, and the color balance is good!


The pancakes are fluffy and have a chewy texture in your mouth when chewed. The apricot-filled apple sauce (taste and viscosity is close to jam) is not too sweet and refreshing, and goes well with simple-tasting pancakes.

The sausages and broccoli are also reasonably soft, so it looks good as an early morning meal when the stomach is not completely awake, or as a meal for children.


◆ November-February 2015 "Jetstar Colorful Risotto with Sausage"

A menu that combines risotto-style rice with tomato sauce and cheese with plenty of vegetables. Contains two large wieners, paprika, broccoli, cauliflower, young corn, and Jetstar's "star-shaped" carrots.


This menu is made into a risotto that is easy to eat so that the rice does not dry out and become "sloppy". Mix the whole thing with cheese and tomato sauce to make a wonderful risotto!

A crispy sausage adds an accent to the moist rice and vegetables. As well as breakfast, there are many kinds of side dishes, so it seems to be a highly satisfying menu for lunch and dinner.


You can choose your favorite pre-order meal from 4 kinds of menus when you make a reservation from the homepage. However, please note that you cannot select it when making a reservation at a call center or travel agency.

In addition, due to the limitation of the number that can be loaded, it seems that it will be offered only for 20 meals per flight.
