Yokai, youkai! ?? The name is too scary, but I'm curious! It's Halloween today! So, I decided to check what "Yokai Yaki" really is.


■ Arrive at "Fanfare", a store that sells "Yokai-yaki"

"Yokai-yaki" is sold at the bakery "Fanfare" in Chofu. There is a shop about 7 minutes walk from the north exit of Chofu station.


...Hmm! ?? At the entrance, there is a banner of "GeGeGe no Kitaro"! And even yellow and black goodwill! Maybe "Yokai-yaki" ...

■ "Yokai-yaki" is the character-yaki of "GeGeGe no Kitaro"

As I was faintly aware, "Yokai-yaki" was a hot dessert that was baked in the shape of "Yokai" that appeared in the popular manga "GeGeGe no Kitaro" by Shigeru Mizuki!

There are 6 types of menus in total. There is an "An" that differs depending on each character, such as Kitaro and Nezumi Otoko.

All are attractive and I can't narrow down to one ...! So I decided to buy them all and try them! The price is 1,000 yen for a set of 6 pieces.

■ I tried "Kitaro and the eye-catching father-yaki"


"Kitaro and Medama-Oyajiyaki" is a youkai-yaki that contains azuki beans and white balls from Hokkaido. The price is 150 yen. Somehow a young boy Kitaro. It's refreshing. Where is the eye-catching father hiding?


The sweet and rich "bean paste" goes well with the chewy dough. Shiratama-ko, which is carefully boiled from shiratama-ko every day, is soft and stretches well, but it is crisp and easy to eat. ...Hmm? The round white ball hidden in Kitaro, what if ... the eye-catching father?

■ I tried "Neko Musume Roast"


"Neko Musume Yaki" is a youkai roast that contains cream cheese and seasonal fruit sauce. The price is 180 yen. Only Neko Musume has a great youkai aura compared to other characters.

This "seasonal fruit sauce" was an apple. The cream cheese flavor is very rich! The slightly sweet skin and the sour cream cheese go well together. It was a little Western-style.

■ I tried "Nezumi Otoko"


"Nezumi Otoko" is a youkai-yaki with matcha-flavored skin and black sesame seeds. The price is 160 yen. As it is a matcha dough, it has a slightly dark green color. The figure wearing the hood is faithfully reproduced.


The bittersweet matcha flavor goes well with the sweet and fragrant black sesame sauce. The balance between black sesame and red bean paste is just right. There is also "An" in the pointed part of the head!

■ I tried "Konaki-jiji-yaki"


"Konaki-jijii-yaki" is a youkai-yaki with seasonal cream. The price is 160 yen. The loincloth that says "gold" is properly tightened.


Maron cream is inside at this time of year. This marron cream is of high quality like the marron cream of Mont Blanc cake from a pastry shop! You can feel the strong chestnut flavor.

■ I tried "Sunakake-baba-yaki"


"Sunakake-baba-yaki" is a youkai-yaki with a thick custard cream. The price is 150 yen. Seen from this angle, it doesn't look like a beautiful woman.


The custard is rich, but it is not too sweet and melts quickly on the tongue, so the aftertaste is refreshing. It has a rich egg flavor and a stable taste.

■ I tried "Nurikabe-yaki"


"Nurikabe-yaki", which is bigger and thicker than others, is a youkai-yaki with okonomiyaki (!) With yakisoba inside. The volume is perfect and the price is 200 yen. Nurikabe, which has a large body and cute small limbs, is like a "wall" and is the number one out of six in size and weight.


The ingredients included cabbage, bacon, and pickled ginger. Seasoned with sauce and mustard mayonnaise. The slightly sweet skin and the ingredients with Mayo sauce are surprisingly good and surprising! This one will make you full.

■ For Halloween, have a cute and delicious "Yokai-yaki"

I had imagined something terrifying about "Yokai-yaki", but it was actually a lovely hot dessert in the shape of the youkai that appeared in "GeGeGe no Kitaro". I think it's just a youkai that is "ghosted" into delicious sweets! It's perfect for sweets to celebrate Halloween!
