Comparison of 7-ELEVEN's and Famima's "Frozen Hot Biscuits"

Did you know that 7-ELEVEN and FamilyMart sell similar but different "frozen hot cookies"? 7-ELEVEN sells "7 Premium Hot Biscuits with Fermented Butter" (321 yen including tax), while Famima sells "Famimaru KITCHEN Buttermilk Rich Hot Biscuits" (320 yen including tax). Both come in bags of two, with syrup. The prices are almost the same, and the package photos are similar.

I'll tell you the result first... this time, a draw! I'm sorry, I just can't decide. Because there are quite a few differences in taste and texture! And both are delicious! So I guess it depends on the person's taste. There are three major differences.

(1) Dough texture
Both are crispy on the outside. 7-ELEVEN's is moist on the inside and Famima's is firmer. The 7-ELEVEN is a little quicker and the Famima stays in the mouth a little longer.

(2) Dough taste
7-ELEVEN's cookies have a delicious taste and a hint of saltiness, making them suitable for a meal. Famima's biscuits have a gentle sweetness. They are suitable for snacks.

(3) Syrup
7-ELEVEN's syrup is thick and rich, with a strong spicy maple flavor. Famima's syrup has the richness and savory sweetness of maple, but it is lighter and the aroma is not as strong as 7-ELEVEN's.

For my part, I personally preferred the Famima Hot Biscuit. The calories and sugar content were slightly higher in the Famima biscuits, but about the same, and the size and texture of each biscuit were also about the same.

Since the dough is not so sweet, toppings that are salty go very well with it. I highly recommend topping it with cream cheese and salmon, or prosciutto ham and avocado.

Famimaru KITCHEN Buttermilk Hot Biscuit

A frozen hot cookie with the rich taste of milk and butter. Defrost in the microwave and top with maple syrup to taste. The price is 320 yen including tax. Each cookie and bag of syrup contains 251 kcal and 33.5 g of carbohydrate, and comes with maple syrup.



When you bite into a biscuit, the outside is crispy and the inside is soft and fluffy. As you bite into it, the dough becomes moist and smooth, and the aroma of margarine and butter spreads softly. The sugar and milk used in the ingredients give it a gentle sweetness. Even without syrup, the cake is sweet as it is. It is not that it does not go well with other salty toppings, but I have the impression that it is more suitable for a snack than a meal.
