Chateraise "Kiln-baked Cheese Buns" with a rich cheese filling in a flaky dough!

A review of Chateraise's "Kiln-fired Cheese Buns". The cookie dough has a soft and flaky texture, and is filled with a filling made from three types of cheese: cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and gouda cheese.

Kiln-fired cheese bun

A moist cookie dough made with Hokkaido butter, egg yolk, and milk is used to wrap a cheese filling made with three kinds of cheese in a baked cheese bun. The surface is coated with a glaze and baked to give it a savory appearance.

The price is 108 yen per piece (tax included). It is also sold in bulk for easy enjoyment. The energy content per piece is 162 kcal.

How does the oven-baked cheese bun taste?

The cookie dough on the outside has a texture that loosens and unravels. Unlike the skin of ordinary buns, it has a Western flavor, with the aroma of wheat and the taste of butter.

The cheese filling is made of three kinds of cheese: smooth and creamy cream cheese, refreshingly sour and mellow cheddar cheese, and rich and tasty Gouda cheese. The sticky texture is a perfect match for the dough, and the rich cheese flavor can be enjoyed.

The sweetness of the dough is well balanced with the rich cheese flavor. Although it calls itself a manju, it is almost a Western-style pastry. The secret flavor of hon mirin (Japanese sweet bean paste) gives it a slight Japanese flavor. This small but very satisfying and rich pastry should definitely be paired with a cup of black coffee!
