A hands-on review of "Dolce Ego Meringata" sold at KALDI's. Meringata is a traditional Italian pastry, and meringa is the English word for meringue.

Dolce Ego Meringata


Dolce Ego Meringata, sold at KALDI, is a sweet that combines rich cream and crispy meringue. Sold in the frozen section, the content was 55g (1.94oz) and the price was 270 yen (including tax). Imported product from Italy, the country of origin.

When removed from the box, the meringata appeared in a paper tray, cut into three pieces. Remove from the freezer and it will thaw in 10 minutes.


The cream sloshes smoothly on the plate. It is sweet and full of milk. Yet, it has a refreshing aftertaste.



The meringue underneath the cream is crunchy, crispy, and lightly accented with texture. The meringue seems a little small compared to the amount of cream, but I think this is a good balance because it accentuates the cream's leading role.
