The key is the balance of meat and sauce!

Comparison of "Katsu Sandwiches" at Convenience Stores

Although I am not a regular at lunch, I sometimes find myself craving a "cutlet sandwich. When I'm at my hungriest, I can't help but pick one up because of the thick cross section of meat.

We compared the cutlet sandwiches available at 7-ELEVEN, Lawson, and Family Mart!

These are the three items we will compare this time.

7-ELEVEN "Mini Loin Cutlet Sandwich" 290 yen (tax included, same as below)

Lawson "Thick-cut loin cutlet sandwich" 399 yen

FamilyMart "Loose Cutlet Sandwich" 368 yen

Lawson's Katsu Sando is only available at stores with a "Machikado Kitchen".

Meat thickness, with or without cabbage...

When compared side by side, 7-ELEVEN and Lawson's cutlets are about the same thickness. Famima is slightly thinner than the other two companies. The batter is a little thinner at Lawson than the other companies.

From top to bottom: 7-ELEVEN (two attached), Lawson, Family Mart

Also, Lawson and Famima have cabbage sandwiched in between, while 7-ELEVEN has no cabbage.

7-ELEVEN "Mini Loin Cutlet Sandwich"

7-ELEVEN's cutlet sandwich comes in three miniature slices that can be eaten in two or three bites. Even when cold, the savory texture of the crispy batter is still alive.

The cutlet is firm and chewy. The sauce is spicy with a hint of mustard, and the overall finish is refreshing. The sauce has a strong flavor.

Lawson's "Thick Cut Loin Katsu Sandwich

LAWSON's cutlet sandwiches have the finest, moist, juicy meat, and the most "I'm eating meat! It tastes the most like "I'm eating meat! It has a fresh, homemade feel to it.

The sauce is sour and fruity. The cabbage is combined with mayonnaise, and the whole dish is slightly sweet and mild.

FamilyMart "Loin Cutlet Sandwich

FamilyMart's pork cutlet sandwich has a strong flavor with a sweet and spicy sauce. The chewy cutlet has a slightly higher percentage of fat than the other two companies.

The sweetness of the fat and the texture of the meat make it a great meal. Mayonnaise with mustard is combined, but the overall flavor of the sweet and spicy sauce leaves a lasting impression.

What was the most delicious?

Both 7-ELEVEN and Lawson's pork cutlets were thick, tender, and delicious. Famima's pork cutlet was also very filling. However, Lawson was the best because it had the best balance between the meat and the sauce.

I liked Lawson's cutlet sandwiches the best.

Since it contains two slices of such a thick cutlet sandwich, I think it is a very good product from a cosmetic standpoint as well. By the way, 7-ELEVEN's sandwich is mini-sized, but eating three slices is quite satisfying, so I think it's a good deal that it doesn't cost 300 yen. It's also the lowest in calories of the three companies, so I'd recommend it to anyone who cares about that!
