Lupicia "Fruit Mugi-cha" (barley tea with fruits)

Mugi-cha (barley tea) is a summer drink. A slightly different type of "fruit barley tea" is sold at the world's tea specialty store, Lupicia.

I purchased three types, all caffeine-free. Each pack of 10 teabags is priced at 390 yen (tax included). For all teas, infuse in boiling water for 2 to 3 minutes, or in water for 1 to 2 hours in the refrigerator (500 ml approx.).

apple barley tea

Roasted domestic six-row barley is flavored with fresh apples. The main aroma is barley tea-like, with just a hint of apple afterward. It is the least fruity of the three, making it a good choice for first-time fruit barley tea drinkers.

Pineapple barley tea

Domestic six-row barley is flavored with fresh pineapple. The aroma is both savory and tropical. It contains no sugar, but the pineapple flavor gives it a sweet finish. Children will enjoy drinking it.

Roasted domestic six-row barley is flavored with green ume. There is no sourness at all, and the refreshing sweetness of the ume is fully utilized. The cool, refreshing taste is perfect for summer.
