Rice cooked with octopus
recipe
Ingredients
2 cups rice150 g boiled octopus
1 ginger clove
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons sake
1 tablespoon mirin
1 teaspoon Japanese soup stock (granulated)
Directions
Wash rice and set aside in a colander.Wash octopus lightly and cut into 5mm round slices. Peel ginger and cut into thin strips.
Put rice and seasonings into rice cooker and add water to the 2 cup mark.
Top with octopus and ginger and cook rice normally.
When rice is finished cooking, stir gently to spread the octopus evenly over the rice. Serve in bowls, topped with scallions if desired.
How does it taste?
The rice is flavored with a hint of soy sauce and ginger, and tastes great on its own! The octopus is added to the rice, and the more you bite into it, the deeper the flavor deepens. The rice is glutinous and the octopus is firm, making it a satisfying meal! The topping of green onion is delicious enough without it, but the crunchy texture and freshness of the green onion accentuates the flavor of the dish. It gives the dish a more three-dimensional flavor.
This simple yet delicious takikomi gohan can be used for celebrations and entertaining. It is also delicious even after it has cooled down, so it is recommended for onigiri (rice balls) and bento boxes.
