I tried the new sweet "Raw Baumkuchen" from the Lawson limited "Uchi Cafe" brand. With icing (sugar coating), it is crispy and sweet, and the dough itself has a moist texture.
The price is 150 yen (tax included) and the calories are 264 kcal. At first glance, you can't see the “raw” Baumkuchen character, but what catches the eye is the top surface with icing. It's a beautiful wavy shape, and it's a waste to eat. It is also beautiful that some lines of sugar are hung on the side of the cake, which is a layer like an annual ring.
When you bite into it, the icing crumbles and melts in your mouth. The crunchy and crispy texture is not very fragile, and it seems to cool the tongue coolly.
The dough is moist but not heavy and has a gentle mouthfeel. The sweetness is modest compared to icing, but it is firmly attached. It is recommended to cut it into small pieces and bring it to your mouth little by little while enjoying it with milk tea.
The "raw" feeling of the name "raw Baumkuchen" wasn't perfect until the end, but it's a wonderful Western confectionery that looks and tastes good.
