"Iwata Coffee" has been on Komachi Street in Kamakura since 1945. It is a long-established coffee shop that celebrities from various fields have visited. It's one of Kamakura's specialty stores, and there are lines on weekends, but on weekdays it's relatively easy to get inside.


After all, the popular "hot cake" (800 yen, tax included, same below) should be eaten here! You can feel the history and emotion of hot cakes instead of pancakes.

It takes 20 to 30 minutes for pancakes to be baked, so when you enter the store, the clerk will ask you if you have an order. Of course I ordered because I want to eat even if I wait.

There is also a wide variety of coffee. This time, I ordered a slightly mature Wiener coffee "Mokuren" (700 yen) with brandy with a little cream.

By the way, there is no call button in the audience seats, and the clerk will come to you when the order is decided. This good old feeling is good!


The freshly baked pancakes that have been brought in are made up of two layers of plump and thick dough that is about 4 to 5 centimeters tall. Two butters are also included. happy.

If you put a knife in the dark top surface ... it's hard! It's crispy and fragrant, and it's like a sable cookie!


In contrast to this crispy surface, the inside is fluffy! Still, when you chew it, it melts moistly. Nostalgic, new ... Anyway, it's really delicious! The gentle sweetness of milk and eggs spreads softly in the mouth, leaving a fragrant finish.

You can apply plenty of butter to make it sweet and salty, or you can add the syrup that comes with it to add more sweetness.
