Kamakura Coffee Shop Milk Hall

If you walk along Komachi Street in Kamakura, you will find many souvenir shops and restaurants, and it is crowded with many people every day. However, if you feel like it, try turning a little sideways. There is an "old-fashioned" coffee shop "Milk Hall" that stands quietly in a quiet residential area.

If you like coffee shops, you should definitely visit this specialty store that has been around since 1976. Once you get to your seat, it's strangely calm and it's so great that you'll want to stay here forever.

What is the best is the atmosphere. I'd like you to try this anyway, but it has a messed up atmosphere. Even though it's daytime, the interior is a little dim, the music of BGM that flows comfortably, the scent of cigarettes that tickles your nose, and antique miscellaneous goods that are displayed everywhere. Everything that makes up the milk bar is nostalgic, and makes you feel as if you have jumped over the Showa era and slipped back in time to the Taisho era.

By the way, I sat down on this day at a seat where I could eat while staring at the bust from behind. It is recommended because you can have a rare experience.

Immovable popular No. 1 menu "Hayashi Rice"

I ordered "Hayashi Rice" (1,300 yen) on that day. It is the most popular and immovable menu that has been in the milk hall for over 30 years.

Popular hayashi rice

Hayashi sauce with plenty of rice that is not sticky and has a firm grainy texture. The white line of cream topping is good.

Hayashi sauce has a deep richness but a refreshing acidity like tomato, and is totally refreshing. The sweetness is modest. It's delicious ... It has a smooth texture and is not heavy even if it has volume. The meat that has been put in is also soft and soft!

"Homemade pudding" and "blended coffee"

After the meal, I also ordered the coffee shop's classic desserts "Homemade Pudding" (650 yen) and "Blend Coffee" (650 yen).

Homemade pudding

A pudding that dances on a nostalgic silver bowl. The whipped cream is squeezed and walnuts are topped.

When scooped with a spoon, it feels a little hard. It has a firm texture and elasticity, and has an earthquake-resistant structure that does not collapse even if you eat more than half of it. When you put it in your mouth, it crumbles and the taste of the egg spreads gently. The sweetness is modest. The crisp and bitter caramel sauce tightens the overall taste, giving it an adult taste. The blended coffee I ordered together had a good balance of acidity and bitterness, and it went well with pudding.

As well as meals and desserts (including parfaits), there are plenty of alcohol and snacks, so you can use it like a bar. On holidays, drink beer from daytime and eat chorizo!

With that said, I hope you can convey the charm of the milk bar as much as possible. Open the retro door and you'll be waiting for a delicious meal and healing time.
