People who like and dislike food in particular often say, for example, at lunch, "I want to eat a fried chicken set meal, but I don't need a small bowl of garnish ...". There should be a strong desire to combine and eat only what you like and what you can eat , rather than a set meal with fixed side dishes.

I would like to recommend to such a person the popular store " Meshi to Juice Toiro " (Nakameguro, Tokyo), which was previously introduced on a certain TV program. It is also a sister restaurant of Ifuu, a small restaurant in Nakameguro. Currently, it is open only at lunch time, and business hours are from 11:30 to 14:00.

The "Uri" at this restaurant is a side dish (starting at 150 yen each) that you can customize to your liking by choosing other rice cooked in a feather kettle, daily miso soup from all over the country, and side dishes of "10 people and 10 colors". In other words, it is an attractive shop that fulfills the selfishness of wanting to eat only what you like.

That's why I also went there!

Toiro is about a 5-minute walk from Nakameguro Station, on the road next to the street where the post office is located. When I arrived at the store after 13:00 on this day (weekday), two customers were waiting in line to enter the store. I also waited for about 20 minutes before going to the seat on the second floor of the store.

You can freely combine 10 or more types of "main dish" and 20 or more types of "side dish" with the base rice and miso soup set (500 yen). With all these choices, there is no doubt that you can make a "private set meal" with just what you like! By the way, the miso soup on this day was made with "Hida Takayama miso".

I was worried about the various menus such as grilled mackerel with salted koji, stewed pork, and vegetable tempura, but this time I decided to use "Ginmutsu Saikyoyaki" (490 yen) as the main dish. For side dishes, I chose omelet, shirasu and cucumber vinegar, burdock and konjac kinpira.

When the order is completed, an empty tray is placed on the table. Rice, miso soup, and the side dishes you chose earlier are brought here one after another.

Wait for a while ... Finally, at this moment, the "Today's private set meal" that combines only what I (the author) wants to eat is completed! All the side dishes are selected by myself, so the tension goes up even more!

After all, what is worrisome is the rice cooked in the feather kettle. Each grain is plump and glossy.

When you try it, it has a moderately chewy texture, and the more you chew, the sweeter it spreads in your mouth. It's delicious that you can eat as much as you want with rice ... Certainly this is a bit different!

Next, the "leading role" of the silver toothfish, Saikyo-yaki. Although it is pale, it is juicy and delicious when chewed. The surface is fragrantly baked and the deep miso scent spreads.

Suddenly, the staff who visited the restaurant with me seemed to be delicious with the fried chicken with tartar sauce (450 yen), so I took a bite to see it.

It looks delicious!

The chicken in a crispy garment is tender and juicy! The tartar sauce, which is more refreshing than you can imagine, erases the greasiness of deep-fried Tatsuta. There is no reason why this doesn't go well with rice!

The side dishes that surround the main dish are all gentle "Ofukuro no Taste". Coupled with the atmosphere of a single-family restaurant, eating makes me feel relieved to remember my parents' house. The taste that you won't get tired of eating every day is exactly what you say.

It's a little extravagant lunch because it's about 1,200 to 1,500 yen per meal with a few side dishes, but when you want to eat orthodox Japanese food at lunch, or when you live alone, you can enjoy the taste of your parents' home. Recommended for when you miss it. It seems that you can go with two or more people and ask for various side dishes to share. Please do try that out.
