"Eating" water, "Ooho!" has been developed and has won an impressive award at the Lexus Design Award 2014, where many of the world's up-and-coming creators are participating. The U.S. media outlet Fast Company reported the news.
According to the media outlet, "Ooho!" is a water ball wrapped in an edible "organic membrane." It was created by three London-based industrial design research students. They say it is inexpensive, easy to make, harmless, and clean.
According to the researchers, "80% of plastic bottle containers are thrown away without being recycled. The "Ooho!" was developed out of a desire to prevent the further increase of plastic bottle waste. Isn't that socially-conscious spirit wonderful!
However, there is a drawback. When drinking (or eating) water, the membrane can break, causing water to spill onto one's face and clothes. It's fine if it's bite-sized, but if it's a large piece, the water will pour out the moment you bite into it. It may take a while to get the hang of it.
