The "Meiji Bulgaria Frozen Yogurt Dessert Blueberry" follows the popularity of "Meiji Bulgaria Frozen Yogurt Dessert" which was launched in March 2022 and shipped approximately 18.5 million units (cumulative total from March 2022 to February 2023). This frozen yogurt dessert features smooth, rich ice cream mixed with yogurt and a refreshing blueberry flavor.


The base ice cream is blended with yogurt developed by Meiji exclusively for ice cream, giving it a rich taste. It is fermented with LB81 lactic acid bacteria (a combination of Bacillus bulgaricus 2038 and Bacillus thermophilus 1131), which is used in "Meiji Bulgaria Yogurt LB81 Plain," to create a refreshing sour taste with a clean finish. Smooth texture is achieved by utilizing low-temperature freezing technology.


During development, we focused on the perfect sweet-acid balance. The flavor of the blueberry juice on the outside of the ice cream was adjusted many times to maximize the characteristics of the smooth, slightly sweet yogurt ice cream, while allowing the user to enjoy both sweet and sour flavors in one bite. By accentuating the sourness of the blueberry juice, the sweetness and sourness of the ice cream can be felt in each bite.
