If you are worried about souvenirs to commemorate your visit to Ise Shrine, this is the one! We would like to introduce "Ise Oinai Sando", a specialty of Mie Prefecture. The one we purchased this time is a pack of 5 pieces. The price is 865 yen (tax included).

Ise Oinaisando

Oinai" means "welcome" in the Ise dialect. It is a commemorative sweet for the visit to Ise Shrine. A salted butter cookie with azuki bean cream sandwiched inside. It is not too sweet and has a crispy texture.

Ise Oinai Shinto (school of Buddhism founded in 1892 by Matsunaga Ise, Shintaro Ise)

Individually wrapped, each cookie is placed in a plastic tray to prevent cracking. The red package with the torii gate on it is adorable! The design is classy yet friendly.

Salted butter cookies are crispy! The taste of wheat and the saltiness that comes later. And the mellowness of the azuki cream sandwiched between the cookies is a match made in heaven! The cookie is rich, but not too salty, making it addictive and delicious. It goes well with Japanese tea, black tea, coffee, or any other tea! The cookies are thick and satisfying, so you will be satisfied with just one cookie.

When you visit Ise, be sure to check out "Ise Oinai Sando," a specialty of Mie Prefecture. It is recommended not only as a souvenir for family and friends, but also as a snack for yourself.
