MUJI "Matcha green tea gateau chocolat
We tried MUJI's limited edition "Matcha Gateau Chocolat". It is a rich green tea flavored product with a firm and sticky texture.
The rich, melt-in-your-mouth white chocolate is moistly baked with matcha green tea mixed into it.
The pattern looks beautiful when cut.
The unadorned square shape is typical of MUJI sweets, but when you insert a knife, you can see a beautiful pattern through the cut edge. It has a heavy texture, so you may want to cut it into bite-sized pieces and enjoy them one by one with a fork.
It also has a secret ingredient of red bean paste.
The aroma of matcha is so strong that it overpowers the flavor of white chocolate, and it is pleasant to wake up when you eat it. The sweetness is reminiscent of gâteau chocolat, but without the bitterness or astringency, and it spreads over the palate with a soft texture.
Japanese or hojicha tea that is not too strong may be suitable.
It seems that red bean paste has been added as a secret ingredient, giving it a subtle Japanese taste. If you would like to enjoy it with a drink, we recommend a refreshing green tea or gentle hojicha tea.
