Sendai's famous confectionery, "Hagi no Tsuki" by Confectioner Sanzen

Hagi no Tsuki" is a well-known Sendai confectionery. It is a confectionary in the shape of the famous moon in the sky of Miyagino where hagi (bush clovers) are in bloom.


Inside a large box of five pieces is a small box containing one Hagi no Tsuki. The atmospheric design depicts the moon floating in the night sky and a woman in a kimono. The price is 1,000 yen (tax included).


The round and round Hagi no Tsuki sponge cake is filled with original custard cream. The dough is soft and fluffy, more like steamed bread than sponge cake. It melts on the tongue without taking away the moisture in the mouth. The smooth cream is a perfect match.


The smooth cream is also perfectly integrated with the smooth cream, and the mild richness of the eggs and milk fills the mouth. The last hint of butter is a nice touch. The taste is elegant yet memorable, like the moon gently illuminating the city at night.
