I went to Okubo "TOKO INDONESIA" to buy ingredients from Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

Indonesian snack!

From Okubo to Shin-Okubo in Tokyo, there are many foreign restaurants and food stores. "TOKO INDONESIA" has everything from Indonesian sweets to tea and seasonings.

TOKO INDONESIA

The shop is full of Indonesian food

The location of the shop is just outside the north exit of Okubo Station. It takes less than a few minutes to walk. There are several Indonesian women working in the store, and it seems that many Indonesian women come to shop. It's a new everyday landscape that you can see in the changing Tokyo.

The description of the product is mixed with Japanese and the alphabet Indonesian, English, and Chinese.

There are multiple types of canned juices that you don't recognize on the shelves, canned fruits that you don't eat much in Japan, instant noodles from unknown brands, and retort pouches for cooking over there. Just looking around the store, the amount of information that comes into my eyes is too much and my head sways.

Lots of unfamiliar juices

Immediate noodles from a brand I don't know

Retort pouch products for cooking over there

PALM SUGAR

Of particular note was the brown sugar that was hardened into a cylinder. It says "PALM SUGAR" and apparently it was made from palm flower nectar. Intrigued by the taste.

PALM SUGAR?

Of course, ordinary sweets, tea and coffee are also available. When I asked the shop staff for recommendations, he stopped his busy hand and told me.

page The shop staff recommends ...

Roma Malkist Crackers

The best-selling "Roma Malkist Crackers" in the store

The best-selling sweets in the store are "Roma Malkist Crackers". When you open it, it's a big square cracker, and when you hold it, it's thin.

Big and thin

I was surprised to bite. Like a pie, the inside is divided into several layers. A little reminiscent of "pie fruit". One side is lightly sprinkled with sugar, and if you put it down and touch the tongue, it will have a sweet taste, but the whole taste will be suppressed and the taste will be very elegant. You can go as many as you like.

It's about the size of a small plate, so it might be a good idea to put cheese or dried fruits on it.

SariWangi Teh Asli

Refreshing tea "Sari Wangi Teh Asli"

For tea, I chose "Sari Wangi Teh Asli". It seems that it is often drunk in Indonesia. Easily brewed in a tea bag, it has a refreshing taste and can be squeezed warm in the hot season. Even iced tea may be delicious.

Less bitterness and swelling

It was written that the tea bag was submerged in a cup for 2 to 3 minutes, but I inadvertently left it in for about 5 minutes, but there was still very little baggage and bitterness, and I could only feel the gentle flavor of black tea. Be done.

Deliamor PALM SUGAR

Try shaving PALM SUGAR with a knife

Finally, although not recommended by the shop staff, I ended up buying the sugar "Deliamor PALM SUGAR" made from palm flower nectar.

Perhaps it is appropriate to dissolve the cylinder in hot water to make a syrup, sprinkle it on ice cream or pancakes, or use it for cooking. But it's troublesome, so I thought I'd cut it with a knife and put it in black tea.

It smells good from the moment you break the vinyl seal. Is it the scent of palm flowers? Scoop a piece of sugar with a spoon for a bit of tasting and it's delicious.

This alone is quite delicious

With this alone, it may be possible to go as a snack. Is it a little like brown sugar? The sweetness itself is much less than ordinary sugar, but rather the floral flavor comes first.

However, when I actually put a small amount in black tea, it melts quickly, but I can't feel the distinctive characteristics. It may be useless if you do not put in a larger amount. If so, it seems that you can enjoy it while tasting it on a separate plate and using black tea as black tea.

For tea?

Alternatively, there may be more delicious uses. Keep in mind to ask if you have the next opportunity to go shopping. After all, it's just a few minutes away from the station.
