A chocolate-flavored beer for Valentine's Day will be released by Sankt Gallen, a craft beer maker in Atsugi City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Available from January 8th.

Chocolate beer 2021 has 4 types of lineup. The list is as follows.


Imperial chocolate stout

It is synonymous with "chocolate beer" that has been sold only for the Valentine season since 2006. Super special dark beer that uses about three times as many ingredients as regular dark beer. The foam is hard and black like a shake, "like a bitter chocolate cake to drink". Alcohol is high at 9% and can be aged for 2 years like wine. It contains 330 ml and the price is 600 yen (excluding tax).

Lectier chocolate stout

A 2021 limited chocolate beer that uses "Le Lectier", which is said to be a phantom pear because it is difficult to produce and the distribution volume is small. Approximately 350 kg of Lectier is used for one brew. In order to take advantage of the unique sweet and mellow aroma, Belgian Strong yeast is used instead of the American ale yeast that has been used consistently in the chocolate beer series since 2006. A yeast with a scent that is likened to green apples and plums, and has a fruity taste due to the synergistic effect with the fruits. It contains 330 ml and the price is 500 yen (excluding tax).

Orange chocolate stout

A beer inspired by the "Orange" sweets, which are orange peel coated with chocolate. The raw material for marmalade, orange (daidai) orange, is finely chopped together with the skin and simmered for a long time to make jam to condense the flavor. It is fermented to match the wort that is the source of beer. The orange used is from Kanagawa. Since the whole orange peel and fruit are used, the bitterness of the citrus peel like marmalade remains in the aftertaste. It contains 330 ml and the price is 500 yen (excluding tax).

Sweet Vanilla Stout Valentine Label

A beer with a rich black beer like espresso mixed with the scent of vanilla. No artificial substances such as essence are added, and A grade vanilla from Papua New Guinea, which is also used by top-class pastry chefs, is used. The mouth is sweet and the back is like vanilla chocolate. It contains 330 ml and the price is 460 yen (excluding tax).
