The chocolate-flavored beer "Chocolate Beer" for Valentine's Day will be on sale from January 11th from the beer maker "Sankt Garen" in Atsugi City, Kanagawa Prefecture.

Chocolate beer is not a "sweet beer" that uses sweets chocolate, but a beer that brings out the flavor of chocolate using only the ingredients of the beer. Using "chocolate malt" roasted at a temperature of about 160 degrees, which is higher than usual, the aroma and bitterness of cacao are brought out.


The lineup includes four types of chocolate beer, including "Imperial Chocolate Stout," which is the 13th year since its release, and the 2018 limited flavor "Apricot Kernel Chocolate Stout," which uses 100 kg of apricot kernel. Both contain 330 ml.

● Imperial Chocolate Stout
A super-special chocolate beer that looks like a “drinking chocolate cake”. The foam is hard and black like a shake, and it is as delicious as full-bodied red wine. Alcohol is as high as 9% and can be aged for 2 years like wine. The price is 600 yen (excluding tax, the same applies below).


● Apricot kernel chocolate stout
2018 limited flavor. It is made by crushing 100 kg of apricot kernel into small pieces just before brewing and matching it with wort. You can enjoy the rich and rich taste and the milky flavor of lactose. Alcohol 6.5%, price is 500 yen.


● Orange chocolate stout
The image of "Orange", which is an orange peel coated with chocolate. "Orange" orange, which is the raw material of marmalade, is used together with the skin, and you can enjoy the citrus flavor. Orange is from Kanagawa prefecture. Alcohol 6.5%, price is 500 yen.


● Sweet vanilla stout
A rich black beer like espresso mixed with the scent of vanilla. You can enjoy the sweet and mellow mouth and the aftertaste like vanilla chocolate. Only this chocolate beer is sold all year round. From January 11th, it will be Valentine's Day level (limited number). Alcohol 6.5%, price is 429 yen.
