Starbucks will resume operations at stores that had been closed due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection from May 19. Some stores will continue to be closed due to the closure of the facilities they move in.

Starbucks Coffee Japan has been closed to help control the spread of infections in the region. As safety measures have been put in place that fully meet the guidelines for business continuity of the restaurant business, which was announced on the 14th, we will resume operations at about 850 of the approximately 1,200 stores nationwide that were closed. Combined with the stores that have been in business for some time, it operates at approximately 1,200 stores nationwide.


As the main safety measures in the store, we have installed a splash prevention guard, recommended contactless payment, and implemented cashier lines and seating arrangements that maintain social distance. We will continue to suspend the provision of drinks in tumblers and mugs, reduce the amount of milk and honey installed in the store, and cancel coffee seminars and community activities. We also encourage customers to visit the store with the minimum number of people, wear masks, and disinfect their hands and fingers when entering the store.
