Lennon said he had swallowed the pierced earrings he had on his ears when he lifted his pet chicken "Sarah" over his shoulder. Lennon told the Daily Mail what happened at that time:

"Suddenly there was a sharp pain in my ear, and I found Sarah swallowing the piercing."

Lennon then put Sarah in a cage and waited for the piercings to drain for a few days. However, it was not excreted, so I asked a veterinarian to take a picture of Sarah's body with a roentgen. It is said that the pierced earrings were found inside Sarah's gizzard. The veterinarian said that if the piercing gets into the gizzard, it is unlikely to be discharged naturally.


Birds have no teeth. For this reason, they swallow sand and small stones and use them in the gizzard as a substitute for teeth to aid digestion. Lennon's diamond earrings seem to have been used to crush hard nuts in Sarah's gizzards.

The veterinarian explained that it is possible to have the piercings removed by surgery, but Sarah's life cannot be guaranteed in that case. As a result, Lennon has decided to wait about eight years for Sarah, who is now six months old, to die of demencia. Lennon said:

"It's really sad to have lost my piercings because it's a big deal that Adam bought me. But I can't do surgery that could lose Sarah. At least I We know where the important earrings are, and one day it will come back to me, even if I have to wait for years before that. "
