How to freeze milk

Milk should be frozen before it expires in the refrigerator. The key is to divide it into smaller portions, as it tends to separate when frozen in bulk.

Milk tends to be consumed at a slower rate during the cold season and tends to accidentally expire. Did you know that it can actually be frozen? Here is how.

How to freeze and store milk Recipe

When frozen in batches, the water (whey) tends to separate, so it is better to use an ice maker that can divide the milk into small portions. Pour the milk into the ice maker in the same way as water and place in the freezer.



Once frozen, transfer to a sealable freezer bag or other container. This will keep for 1-2 months.



If you do not want to lower the temperature of the drink, place it in a heatproof container and defrost it in the microwave. It is not recommended to drink it with milk alone, as the flavor and texture will be slightly less than before freezing.



Note that the ice melts much faster than ice, so be sure to take it out of the freezer quickly (melted parts will stick to the ice when refrozen). If you are under pressure from the impending expiration date, I think it is a good idea to freeze some of the food right after you buy it!
