Sapporo Lion Chain
Draft beer is half price at Sapporo Lion Chain on August 4th

Draft beer will be half price on August 4th at each Sapporo Lion chain store (excluding some stores) such as Ginza Lion. It seems to be named after "Beer Hall Day".

The reason why August 4th is the day of the beer hall is that more than 100 years ago, on this day in 1899 (Meiji 32), Tokyo was Japan's first beer hall "Ebisu Beer Hall" near Shinbashi in Ginza. Is because the store has opened.

As a promotion store for Yebisu Beer, we started by renting the second floor (35 tsubo) of a two-story brick building, the floor is covered with linoleum, and the chairs and tables are made of beer barrels, which is extremely modern at that time. It seems that the interior was nice.

The beer served here is priced at 10 sen per 500 ml. At that time, a cup of coffee cost two sen, so you can see that it was quite a luxury item.

Even so, the beer hall was very prosperous, and the number of visitors per day reached an average of 800, with a full thank-you note and sold-out bills every day. Some people came by carriage from afar.

This beer hall is the predecessor of the Sapporo Lion Chain, which today develops Ginza Lion and others. With the 100th anniversary of its founding in 1999, August 4th, the day of its founding, was designated as "Beer Hall Day" and was certified by the Japan Anniversary Association to celebrate.

Sapporo Lion chains nationwide will cut all draft beer in barrels at half price on this day. "Sapporo Draft Beer Black Label" "Yebisu Draft Beer" "Yebisu Premium Black" "Yebisu & Yebisu (Half & Half)" "Amber Yebisu" "Yebisu Stout Creamy Top" "Shiraho Noka" "Edelpils" etc. However, please note that only glasses and mugs are available, not bottles and canned beer.
