From November 17th, two types of "biscuits" have joined Lawson's counter donuts. "Maple biscuits with fermented butter" and "tea and orange biscuits with fermented butter". The price is 135 yen each (tax included).


Donuts are now found in every convenience store, but biscuits are rare, aren't they? I was curious, so I decided to give it a try.

■ Maple biscuits

The crumble with maple sugar is visible in some of the layered fabrics. It has the sweet scent of maple. The size is about 7 cm in both length and width, which fits in the palm of a woman.


From the cross section, you can observe the crumble and the layer of fabric. The crumbled part is as dry as the fabric, so it won't stick to your fingers when you touch it.


When you eat it, it has a soft and soft texture, except that the surface is slightly crispy. If you chew it, it will loosen finely and get the moisture in your mouth, and it will melt moistly. Moderate sweetness throughout. Maple is not as assertive as the scent, and the sweetness of wheat is also felt.

Also, when you warm it in the microwave, the texture changes fluffy! Maybe the maple has melted, and the sweetness and flavor have increased. Warm is recommended for those who like sweets. At the time of purchase, it seems that you can warm it up by asking the clerk.

■ Tea and orange biscuits

This is a simpler look than maple biscuits. There are some black spots that seem to be black tea leaves. This is also about 7 cm in length and width.


The appearance of orange peel is here and there.



When you eat it, the sweet scent of black tea runs through your mouth. The texture is softer because the dough is uniform, but the chewy texture due to the thickness is also ant. The firm orange peel accentuates the texture.


The sweetness is more modest than maple. The sweetness of the orange peel that exudes as you chew stands out. If you heat it in the microwave, it will have a more fluffy texture. The flavors of tea and butter have also increased.


All of them are modest in sweetness, so it looks good if you say "doughnuts are too sweet". I am happy that the calories are around 250 kcal, which is lower than that of donuts (example: "Old Fashion Donut Chocolate" is 392 kcal). Also, if you eat while hydrating with coffee, even one of them will fill your stomach, so it may be good for a light meal.
