California's most delicious "In-N-Out Burger"

◆ There is no freezer or microwave in the store

"In-N-Out Burger" is a hamburger shop that is said to be "the most delicious in California". It has a long history, and the first store opened in 1948. It was the first drive-through hamburger stand in California.

Frozen ingredients are not used at the store. Patty's beef is "premium beef" processed at our own factory. No additives are added. French fries potatoes are peeled and cut at the store and served freshly fried rather than pre-made. Vegetables such as lettuce, tomatoes and onions are also procured from nearby farmers.

◆ The store and drive-through are very crowded!

I arrived at the store just after 12 o'clock, the peak lunch time. The parking lot was full, there was no vacancy, and there was a long line in the drive-through. When I gave up and revisited before 14:00, although I found a space, there was still a line in the drive-through, and the line extending from the counter inside the store continued to the outside of the store. In-N-Out Burger is very popular.

◆ Menu & I tried it

The menu is very simple. There are only three types of burgers: "hamburger" and "cheeseburger", and "double double" with double meat and cheese. Combine this with "French fries" or "Shake". There is also a set menu.

What does a hamburger taste like? Speaking of which, bread, meat, vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes, onions), and cheese all have a "real" texture and taste. The patties are solid and the lettuce is crispy. The packaging and trays are fast food itself, but the taste was not fast food. And above all, I was hit by this french fries. French fries in US fast food restaurants often have only the taste of artificially added "beef extract", not the taste of potatoes. It's delicious, but this french fries tastes like potatoes.

Now, the concept of the store is to recreate the "good old American" burger shop in modern times. There, the hamburger's "buddy" is not a cola, but a shake. This shake is also "real". Each one is made by "shaking" solid ice cream in the store.

It is an in-and-out burger with more than 300 stores mainly in California (as of January 2015), but it seems that there are no plans to open stores in Japan so far. One of our commitments is that there is a factory in California that manufactures patties, and if we stick to "not freezing", it may be difficult to expand overseas as it is. If you plan to visit California, please give it a try.
