7-ELEVEN's "Salted Melon Croissant" is almost like a melon bread when eaten as is...but when baked in a toaster, it becomes a croissant! Soft and sweet, perfect with coffee!

Tried 7-ELEVEN "Salted Melon Croissant"

I'm curious about the "Salted Melon Croissant" (140.40 yen including tax) released on August 15 at 7-ELEVEN... It is said to be a sweet bread baked with a melon bread cookie layered on top of croissant dough, but in the end, does it taste like a melon bread? Is it a croissant? Which is it?

So I bought it! Let's try it right away! The color is completely melon bread, but the shape is more like a croissant. By the way, the calorie count per piece is 314 kcal.

How does the "Salted Melon Croissant" taste?

The crispy surface of the dough tastes like melon bread! It melts in the mouth and has a rich margarine aroma. However, when you bite into it, you will find that the texture of the dough inside is similar to that of a "fluffy" croissant. The sweetness and a touch of saltiness are exquisite!

The cookie dough on the outside and the slightly sweet taste is like melon bread. I wonder if the slight saltiness and the texture of the dough inside is similar to that of a croissant. But to be honest, other than the shape, I have the impression that the taste and texture are almost like melon bread.

The impression changes when baked in a toaster!

I baked it in a toaster for 2 to 3 minutes and tried it. The warmed surface of the dough became crispy and crunchy! The inside became fluffy and more like a croissant (it tastes like melon bread). I see how this works...!

It's got more of a croissant feel to it.

The "Salted Melon Croissant" showed us the duality of melon bread and croissant. If you like melon bread, just go ahead and eat it. (If you want to enjoy it as a croissant (with melon bread flavor), we recommend toasting it lightly in a toaster before eating! Both go perfectly with coffee, so be sure to try them for breakfast or an afternoon coffee break.
