Starbucks "Kaga Hojicha Frappuccino"

At each Starbucks store, "Kaga Hojicha Frappuccino" will be on sale for a limited time from May 30th (excluding some stores). The price is 620 yen (excluding tax) for tall size.

Frappuccino that appears as the first of "STARBUCKS JAPAN WONDER PROJECT" that rediscovers and disseminates wonderful things around Japanese food culture. I've been drinking a new work with great expectations!

What is Kaga Hojicha?

This time, we focused on "Kaga Hojicha", which has been loved in Ishikawa as a Japanese material. There is a story that only the stem of tea was lightly roasted, and when the "stem", which was the part discarded by the tea merchant Hayashiya Shinbei in Kanazawa, was roasted and put on the market, it became popular. It is a gem that was born because it is an area where the culture of tea and crafts is thriving.

Arranged like Frappuccino

Frappuccino is blended with powder using finely crushed roasted green tea. White chocolate cream and roasted green tea jelly are combined. While making the best use of the green color of Hojicha, the glittering jelly expresses Kanazawa's specialty gold leaf. First of all, you can enjoy it with your eyes.

Beautiful layered

Topped with roasted green tea powder on top of the cream. A fragrant scent rises before you drink it. A plump jelly that pops out vigorously when you smoke it with a straw. No fragrances or colorings are used, and the refreshing taste is impressive. I also feel a soft bitterness in my mouth.

Smooth and cool throat

Next is a soft and smooth white chocolate cream. The mellow sweetness and richness go well with the aroma of bar roasted green tea. It is a cup that you can enjoy the luxury of Frappuccino while moisturizing your throat.

For a change of mood in the damp rainy season

When I asked the product developer about the custom, it is recommended to drink it as it is if you want to enjoy the delicate taste and aroma of bar roasted green tea. But if you want a little more sweetness, you can add white mocha syrup, and if you want to enjoy the texture, you can add chocolate chips.

Expectations next time

A project that proposes a unique Japanese culture from a unique perspective of Starbucks. There must be many attractions in Japan that we do not know yet. I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of products will come out next.
