The hot dog specialty store "Super Hot Dog", which was popular in Shiba 5-chome, Minato-ku, relocated and opened in Hamonica Yokocho in Kichijoji in January of this year. Here, "homemade" hot dogs are offered, from sausages to ketchup and mustard, but the most notable specialty menu is the huge " super hot dog " with a total length of 25 cm (!)! ..

Super hot dogs are sold only on the 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th and the last day of each month, limited to 50 dogs. That's why the En-eating editorial department headed to Kichijoji Hamonica Yokocho to catch the Super Hot Dog on a certain day of the target month!


If you enter the narrow road between the Menchi-katsu procession shop "Sato" and the Monaka and Yokan shop "Ozasa", you will find a super hot dog shop. I thought it was just a To go, but when I went up the stairs next to it, there was an eat-in space on the second floor.


Today's aim is, of course, a 25 cm super hot dog (1,080 yen / tax included, same below). When I ordered it immediately, the store manager said, "I'm going to bake sausages, so it may take some time. Is that okay?"

If you can eat freshly baked fluffy, you can wait as long as you like! I decided to call when it was completed, and I decided to receive the drink and number tag first and wait on the second floor.

The super long and thick sausage is gently wrapped in this bread. In contrast to the crispy texture the moment you insert your teeth, the meat inside is fluffy! It is the sweet and delicious gravy with herbs that breaks through the thin skin and overflows.

There is plenty of cabbage between the bread and the sausage, and the crispy texture is also good. In addition, the umami and moderate saltiness of cheddar cheese, which is served like a rage, melts on your tongue. This hot dog is insanely delicious ...!

● I thought about what is different from the others

What makes a hot dog that you can easily eat so different in taste? I tried to analyze why super hot dogs are so delicious. After all the decisive factor is bread and sausage .

First, bread that is baked using natural yeast. An exquisite mouthfeel that combines a momentary crispness with fluffy softness. The taste is simple and not only enhances the deliciousness of the sausage, which is the main character, but also does not interfere with ketchup or mustard. As I learned later, this is a "custom-made product" that was jointly developed with a bakery for hot dogs.

And sausages that bring out the best in both taste and texture. The meat isn't stuffed tightly, but it has a texture that melts softly after it pops, and it's juicy that you might even drink it. It doesn't have a greasy greasiness, so it's easy to get rid of it for its visual impact. By the way, this is an "additive-free sausage" that uses natural pork intestines.

Super hot dogs are a limited menu that is sold only 7 times a month, but standard size hot dogs are usually sold as "hot dogs Jr.". The price is 350 yen per piece.


A hot dog big enough to make you want to remind yourself, "Well , is this a junior?" Thick and long sausages are sandwiched between breads that are one size smaller than super hot dogs, and cheddar cheese is moderately topped. The amount of cheese is certainly a little small.

Unlike super hot dogs, bread has a gentle taste that reminds me of the koppe bread that I ate when I was a child. With a soft butter roll-type mouthfeel, it firmly catches the gravy that overflows from the sausage.

It's more modest than a super hot dog, but it's full enough volume. Is 350 yen exceptional with this? By the way, a set of hot dog Jr. with Belgian French fries (S size) and a drink (600 yen) and a set of potatoes (S size) and Belgian beer (900 yen) are also available.
