[First day report] Enjoyed Hamakaze and beer at Yokohama Oktoberfest and cried a little

High in the sky, horse fertilizer autumn. On a refreshing sunny autumn day, you'll want to go somewhere. That's right, October ... Oktoberfest.

When I hear the word "Oktoberfest", the "Oktoberfest" comes to mind, so I'm sure that beer is flowing instead of blood. That's why I went to "Yokohama Oktoberfest 2014" held at the event plaza of Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse (Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture) until October 19th.

I'll drink!

As you walk from Bashamichi Station to the venue while feeling the breeze, you will see the contrast between the red brick and the green tent. Creating a venue that resembles the Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, makes you feel like you're really in a foreign country.

Oh my goodness? Is this Germany?

When you enter the venue with more than 1,900 seats, various brewery booths are lined up, full of energy and enthusiasm. I visited on the first day, but the weather was fine with short sleeves at night, and I was already sick!

Outside the tent, you can enjoy beer with the scenery of the harbor

You can enjoy the enthusiasm and stage of the customers in the main tent.

This time around 90 kinds of beer, which is the largest number ever at the event, are being offered. I was a little lost because there were too many, but I chose the first cup of white beer that I like.

"Engel Weiss Beer" (500ml (16.91us fl oz), 1,300 yen)

This "Engel Weissbia" with a beautiful topaz color is said to be made at one of Germany's leading breweries, which has won the German Federal Honor Award and the DLG Gold Award. With a gorgeous scent and a light mouthfeel, there is no bitterness and it is refreshing and easy to drink. It will soak into your thirsty throat!

I chose the Corbinian of "Weihenstephan, the oldest brewery in the world", which is said to be the first appearance of the event this time. It is a double box bearing the name of the founder. It has a fragrant caramel-like scent and is slightly sweet, so even the author who doesn't usually drink dark beer is awesome! And gulping ... By the way, alcohol is high.

"Weihenstephan Corbinian" (500ml (16.91us fl oz), 1,800 yen)

What I saw in my eyes was a glass shaped like a Harry Potter magic experiment. It's called a yard glass that can hold 800ml (27.05us fl oz). Inspired by my curiosity, I asked him to put in Kilkenny (800ml (27.05us fl oz), 1,500 yen).

long!

Kilkenny's beer has an apple-like scent and is fresh, which is also easy to drink and delicious! The beer glasses at the venue have a deposit system, but these glasses are unstable and fragile, so the deposit fee is as high as 3,000 yen. Be really really careful not to break it.

Hold it with both hands

It seems that you can drink as many beers as you like, but when it comes to beer, of course, delicious snacks are indispensable. With garlic and butter, "Mega-filled mussels 1kg with fried potatoes with skin" (2,800 yen), the taste of the shellfish enhances the taste of beer.

Beer doesn't stop

And the best German beer is sausage! The handmade coarse sausage "Extreme Sausage [KATANA] Sword" (1,700 yen), which is sold only for 30 pieces every day, has a ridiculous impact of 50 cm.

Boldly sticking out

In addition, hot wine "Glühwein" (700 yen) poured into cute boot-shaped cups and cocktails are also sold at the wine booth. Glühwein is sweet and easy to drink like sangria, so you can drink it after meals. You just have to drink until the end ...

It warms up relievedly

As the night went on, the live performance of the German orchestra "WOHO & KALENDAR BAND" started when I gradually got to know the people around me! The cheerful uncles played famous songs that everyone knows one after another, and the whole venue became one and it was a great excitement. When I was listening to the last "STAND BY ME", I didn't want to go back to my room and I cried a little ... Darling stand by me.

The Yokohama Oktoberfest, where you can enjoy autumn Yokohama and delicious beer, is open until October 19th. The event is held from 12:00 to 21:30 on weekdays and from 11:00 to 21:30 on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays (food and drinks are sold until 21:00). Admission is 300 yen (tax included) and a separate food and drink fee is required. Please be careful not to be sentimental on your way home!
