"Karaage-kun" has become a commonplace at Lawson stores. So far, more than 150 flavors have been sold.

Of all the flavors of Karaage Kun, 15 are all-you-can-eat, and Yo-Ho Brewing's craft beer "Moon Gaho" ( also sold at Lawson from October 6 ) is all-you-can-drink. The event was held in Tokyo. It is a valuable opportunity that even employees do not (rather not at all) eat 15 kinds at the same time. The En-eating editorial department has also participated in "Karaage-kun Zanmai".

◆ Looking back on the history of 30 years

Karaage-kun first appeared in stores in 1986. It is a longevity product that will turn 30 next year. First, let's look back on the history and see the taste for a limited time.

In 1986, "Regular" in an English newspaper-style package made its debut. In addition to 5 pieces, there were also 9 pieces and 25 pieces. Then, in 1988, "Red" was released and became a two-flavor system. With the introduction of "cheese" in 2003, it became a three-flavor system. During this time, "Curry" (1994), which appeared with the expectation that it will be the third taste, disappeared in response to complaints that "the inside of the store smells like curry", and "Super" using thigh meat (2003) ) Was released, but the juiciness was not accepted, and there were twists and turns. Are there any readers who have eaten karaage-kun around here?

In 2006, a general election was held along with the sale of seven local flavors, and the Kanto "green onion salt", which ranked first, was sold nationwide. Kinki's "Yuzu Ponzu" was the most popular in the 2007 general election. In 2013, "Yamachan of the World Phantom Chicken Wings Flavor" in Chubu became a big topic. By the way, this taste is said to be the number one selling flavor among all the flavors for a limited time.

In 2010, the first "bacon bits" with "ingredients" was introduced. From 2011, flavors will be released for a limited time almost every month. And in 2012, "Karaage Kun? Aji" was released to commemorate the 100th kind. It seems that only about five people in Lawson knew the "correct answer", which is a tongue-in-cheek planned product that "you don't know the taste until you eat it." (It tasted like carbonara!)

In 2014, a branded "Rare Karaage Kun" appeared secretly (?). Even now, it is contained at a rate of 1 in 1,000, and about half of them are "King Karaage Kun". I have never met either!

By the way, when I asked 100 participants at the venue, there were about 10 people who "have eaten more than 10 kinds so far". There were also 3-4 people who "have never eaten karaage-kun". You guys haven't eaten unexpectedly.

◆ Top 3 flavors you want to add to the standard

At the event, 15 flavors were specially reproduced and offered "all-you-can-eat". I was surprised that about 1.5 kg was prepared for each person. Everyone, I will throw it into the plate one after another.

Good luck!
Good luck!

The flavors offered on the day are as follows. Hakata Meita Mayonnaise flavor, Yuzu pon vinegar (with a gang) flavor, Nakatsu Shio sauce flavor, Usa soy sauce flavor, Hiroshima lemon flavor, phantom chicken wings flavor, roasted Omar shrimp flavor, quattro fromage flavor, migrating crab tomato cream Sauce flavor, Fukaya Negi flavor, Dekaraagekun 4 kinds of pepper flavor, dumpling flavor, Hawaiian barbecue flavor, Tom Yumkun flavor, Yuzu salt flavor (in no particular order).

The En-eating editorial department compared all the flavors and selected three "flavors that I want you to put in the standard" based on your own judgment and prejudice. The four types of pepper flavors of fried chicken disappeared early, so I rely on my memory to rank them.

(It looks like everything together ...)
(It looks like everything together ...)

1st place "Fukaya green onion taste": Exquisite scent like stir-fried green onions. I stabbed it tightly to the condiment-loving writer. It seems to go well with any liquor.

2nd place "Phantom chicken wings taste": As expected, the taste supervised by a popular restaurant, no complaints! I can't stop the spicy seasoning. I am convinced that it is the number one seller in history.

3rd place "Yuzu salty taste": Hiroshima lemon and yuzu ponzu were also delicious, but the scent of the fruit was not overstated, but it was refreshingly summarized. It seems that it was sold only in Kinki.

Extra : The new "Roasted Sesame Mayonnaise" released on September 15 is also highly recommended. It's just called "roasted", and you can't say anything about the fragrant sesame scent. It seems that they use precious domestic sesame seeds (Kagoshima prefecture).

The most popular item at the venue was "Tom Yum Kung Flavor" (released in August 2015). Maybe it's an ethnically popular tamamono, or because there were many female participants ...

◆ The quiz tournament is also exciting

In the latter half of the event, a quiz tournament was also held, and questions related to past limited flavors such as "the taste released at the Fujiko F. Fujio Characters Fair (the correct answer is" Isobe-yaki flavor ")" were asked. With the number of dropouts coming out one after another, the victory was decided in the 8th question. I think the winning woman is a terrific "karaage kun mania", but she says that she "eats about once every six months." It seems that he answered by relying on the memory of the contents introduced in the first half of the event.

By the way, there are 10 questions in total. The remaining two questions were also presented, but the final question was, "What is the taste of Tojo's favorite karaage-kun?" ... I don't know this! While the venue was very lively (?), The champion answered with intuition and achieved all the correct answers. It seems that he also had a strong "luck".

Did you have any taste of memories? What kind of taste will appear in the future? With this much taste, I think it's exhausted, but it's true.
