"Beer for the time being" is often asked when ordering at izakaya. Beer can be ordered without looking at the menu because it is available in most stores, and if everyone agrees, it is easy to order, which is a convenient word for starting a meeting smoothly.

But in fact, how many people choose beer for the first cup? When Rakuten Research conducted a questionnaire survey of 1,000 men and women aged 20 to 69, the following results were obtained.

■ About half of the "beer" groups are for the time being! 10% of people who "do not order drinks"

When asked "What do you often order for the first cup at a store that offers alcoholic beverages?", The following answers were obtained in descending order.

Beer 44.9%
Soft drink 14.7%
Do not order drinks 10.6%
Sour Chuhai 6.8%
Cocktail 2.7%

After all, the number of people who answered "beer" was by far the largest, and less than half of all respondents. By gender, 59.4% of men and 30.4% of women, showing that nearly twice as many men choose beer as the first beer. By generation, the percentage of people in their twenties is as low as 37.5%, and it seems that the liquor to choose for the first cup is diversifying among young people.

The next most common answer was "soft drinks". Overall, it was about 15%, but women in their 20s and 30s and 60s both accounted for 20%. Even if you are not a person who is vulnerable to alcohol, starting with a soft drink on an empty stomach, which is easy to drink, has the advantage of preventing you from getting drunk.

The third most common answer was "don't order drinks" (about 10%). Does this mean that you can drink with free "water" or "tea"? If you ask, I don't often order drinks at lunch time even in izakaya. It seems that there are a certain number of people who use such shops as "places to eat" even at night.

Beer still made up the majority of the first drink, but still less than half. Occasionally, if you move away from "beer", you may discover different ways to enjoy alcohol and food.
