The summer-only "chocolate mint bagel" and "watermelon bagel" were released on July 25 from the bagel specialty store BAGEL & BAGEL. The price is 190 yen each (tax included).


Chocolate mint bagels are made by kneading bitter chocolate chips into a refreshing mint flavored dough and baking it. It was first released in July 2013, and will be sold once in June this year as well. Due to its popularity, it will join the summer lineup again.


When I try to eat it, the taste of the dough itself is plain, and the bittersweetness and sweetness of the chocolate gradually spreads as I chew. The scent is strong mint, and a slight refreshing sensation remains in the mouth for a while after swallowing.


On the other hand, watermelon bagels are made by kneading chocolate chips that look like "seed" into a dough containing watermelon juice and baking it. It was the flavor that first appeared last year (2014) and became a hot topic among fans.



When taking out the bagels of the same store, it is delicious to warm them lightly with a toaster before eating, but in this case both are "cool" bagels, so it is recommended to eat them at room temperature without warming. Both are for a limited time until August 31, but will end as soon as they run out.

In addition, the cafe-equipped store has begun offering "Mizudashi Iced Coffee" (medium size from 280 yen including tax) along with bagels. Iced coffee, which is made by blending several types of coffee beans from Brazil and Indonesia and slowly extracting it with water, is said to be able to enjoy a fragrant and mellow taste with less bitterness and harshness.
