Last weekend, Blue Bottle Coffee, nicknamed "Apple in the Coffee World," opened its second store in Japan, "Aoyama Cafe," in Minami Aoyama, Tokyo. Here, you can enjoy not only coffee that is carefully brewed one by one, but also a food menu that is limited to Aoyama Cafe, which is not available at Kiyosumi Shirakawa!


A few days after the grand opening, I also went to the store late! I witnessed a line of 300 people at the Kiyosumi Shirakawa store, but how many people are lined up at the Aoyama Cafe ...?

When I went to the store around 9:20 before the store opened on weekdays (10 o'clock), the gate was still closed. Suddenly, I found a poster stating that "the place to line up is not here"! Indeed, the procession seems to be along Route 246, about a minute's walk from the shop!



When I headed nervously ... There were 7 people in line! I was prepared to wait for about 2 hours just by looking at the line at the Kiyosumi Shirakawa store, but I'm lucky!


That's why it was past 9:20 and I was at the end. If this is the case, it is certain that you will be able to enter the store as soon as the store opens. When this happens, the opponents who fight are no longer in line, but in the freezing cold.


However, as expected, Blue Bottle Coffee is a hot topic in the world. The number of people gradually increased as we waited 10 minutes and 20 minutes, and roughly 30 customers lined up 5 minutes before the opening time. While many women visit each other on this day, there are also men lined up alone and customers with children.

It was 10 o'clock and the shop opened. The author also succeeded in entering the store as the first team!

When you step inside the store, the staff smiles from the open counter and says "Good morning!". The wonderful customer service that showed me as soon as possible caught my heart in an instant.


First, order at the counter. In addition to single-origin drip coffee (550 yen, beans from Papua New Guinea on this day), I chose the Aoyama Cafe limited menu "Beignet" (600 yen) and "Poached Egg Toast" (850 yen).

At this point, you will be asked for your name, "I will call you when the item you ordered is ready." It's kind of like a foreign cafe! I was so happy, but I was shy, and I told Futsu my last name ... Next time, I'll take the plunge and tell him the name below.

Now, when you finish your order and pay, go to your seat.


The floor is spacious, and the large windows gently let in bright sunlight. In addition to table seats and sofa-type seats, there are also table seats for one person. I'm very grateful for this "one person" like me. Behind the window, there are also sunny terrace seats.


First of all, it seemed that the drip coffee was ready, and the name was called. When you go to the counter, they will pour coffee into the cup (this time the To go cup) in front of you. Isn't the service that "looks" like this wonderful? Yet another staff member told me, "Before you put the lid on, please enjoy the scent first."

As I was told, when I brought the cup close to my mouth without the lid, it was softly wrapped in the scent of fresh and gorgeous coffee. When you close your eyes, you can see the colorful scenery of Papua New Guinea surrounded by nature.

When I took a sip slowly, after a slightly strong acidity, a solid richness followed. The back is fruity and clean. Very easy-to-drink taste with less bitterness and sweetness. By the way, this is a limited sale in Tokyo.


Then, the poached egg toast was brought in! Two poached eggs that have been cooked slightly firmly are placed on a thick sliced bread that has been toasted in a moderately golden color.


Because bread is simple, you can feel the deliciousness of wheat directly, and you won't get tired of eating it all the time! The outside is crispy and fragrant, the inside is moist and fluffy, and it is chewy when chewed.

When you put a knife in the egg with smooth skin, you can see the thick yolk that shines from the inside. If you eat this with bread, a wave of happiness will rush into your mouth ...!


And what impressed me personally was the tomatoes attached to the toast! It was insanely sweet and juicy, and I felt that I didn't compromise on the garnish.


Finally, a freshly made beignet was brought in! This is a bite-sized "fried donut-style" pastry. The surface is sprinkled with sugar. Attached to the plate is a salted caramel sauce that can be topped freely.



When I stab it with a pick and throw it in my mouth ... Oh, it's gone! Did I really eat now ...? It melted in an instant so that I could doubt myself! What a fleeting chidoke ...!


When you eat it with salted caramel sauce, the fragrance and sweetness spread in your mouth the moment the dough melts, leaving behind a crispy sweet sugar. It is worth trying the change of taste that you can enjoy and this novel texture!


When I looked around the store with my stomach and heart filled, it was almost full before I knew it. Customers are still lined up at the entrance. Despite this busyness, the staff's customer service is perfect. The style of calling by name each time the requested menu is completed gives the impression that the customers are valued.


Blue Bottle Coffee Aoyama Cafe may be a shop that offers not only delicious coffee and food, but also a unique cafe experience. I was excited to feel the deep love for coffee and the desire to share the true taste of coffee with many people.

In addition, goods such as tote bags and towels limited to Aoyama Cafe are also on sale in the store. If you can't usually come, it might be a good idea to buy some goods and beans to commemorate your visit.



When I left the store around 11 o'clock, there were a lot of customers waiting to enter the store on the stairs. However, the line was not so long and the waiting time was around 20 minutes.
