I was wondering what the taste of "Gatsun Tokuru Coffee" was, so I stopped by when I went to Shibuya!
It's been over a month since it opened, but about 10 customers lined up in front of the counter waiting for orders. The operation was smooth, so the fact that people line up is surely a sign of popularity. In other words, proof of deliciousness! Expectations also rise.
When I was looking at the menu, I noticed the word "single origin" (350 yen), which is familiar even in the recent boom of third wave. This is a short-sized espresso (eat-in only) that uses daily coffee beans. Today's beans are "aceh gold" from Sumatra. I will order immediately.
I also wanted to drink coffee with milk, so I ordered a "latte" (S size from 330 yen). It seems that beans from "espresso-a-go-go" are always used here.
Furthermore, since it was lunchtime, a food menu was added. I was also interested in "Steak Sandwich" (starting from 1,200 yen), but this time I visited the store for the first time, so I chose "Gorilla Dog" (650 yen), which bears the name of the store.
After receiving the coffee brewed on the spot and the number plate for the gorilla dog, I went to my seat. The first floor was almost full, so I'm heading to the second floor. The atmosphere on the 2nd floor is a little more relaxed and calm than on the 1st floor.
There are many foreign customers in the store, and it feels like Brooklyn, New York. There was also a power supply in the seats, and some people brought their own computers and enjoyed coffee while working. You can see how cozy it is and why it is loved by the locals in Brooklyn.
First, try drinking a single origin.
The aroma and taste are very sour. Moderate bitterness will chase afterwards. Certainly, it has a sharp taste that makes you feel like "Gatsun!", But the balance is closer to the acidity, so you can drink it lightly.
Next, I'll try drinking latte. The fragrant crema extracted by the espresso machine and the milk foam created by the barista weave the "heart" latte art.
Thanks to the fluffy creamy milk foam, the taste and mouthfeel are soft and mellow! I wondered if the bitterness would come in, but the coffee had a strong aroma, but there was no intense bitterness, and it was very delicious. Even people who usually add sugar to their coffee may be able to drink it without sugar.
As I was enjoying coffee, a gorilla dog was brought in! The dog, which looks like two fists, is topped with fried onion chips and sauerkraut.
The special bread has a crispy surface and is fluffy inside. The sanded big size sausage is full of meat and full of bullets! When you bite into it, the delicious gravy overflows into your mouth.
For seasoning, pepper is added to the rich sauce that looks like a combination of tomato puree. With its powerful taste and hearty taste, it is a dish that is suitable for bearing the name of "gorilla"! This is also a gutsy type.
The toppings are so crowded that it's not difficult for girls to eat, but it may be the authentic style. By the way, as a genuine Japanese person, I didn't get enough of it and ate only the top toppings with a fork first. … Evil way?
In addition, the gorilla coffee has a rich menu of sweets that could not be tried this time. The showcase is full of sweets that look delicious, such as the "banana cheesecake" (430 yen) topped with bananas and the thickly cut "banana cake" and "carrot cake" (380 yen each). It was lined up inside. It looks great with punchy coffee!
I will definitely give it a try the next time I visit.
